Xiaomi’s Black Shark 2 Pops Up at Geekbench
The Gaming-centric Xiaomi Black Shark 2 about to hit the shores soon
The battle to become this year’s premier gaming smartphone just got better. With Huawei and Razer recently launching the Mate 20X and Razer Phone 2 just weeks ago, Xiaomi isn’t going to let the year end without unleashing their own beast into the wild.
“The Shark” dropped by Geekbench to show some of its real-world processing chops. System Information shows that it will come with Snapdragon 845, 8GB RAM, and Android 8.1.
The leaked poster for the Shark 2 hints that it will be officially unveiled on October 23. Though there are no exact pricing details yet, it should be anywhere between USD $430-$500 price point if the first version will be used for estimates.
So what do you get for that price? Its TENAA listing shows that the Black Shark 2 will come with an FHD+ 5.99-inch display and a hefty 4000mAh battery. The leaked photo of its back revealed a dual camera setup with fingerprint sensor along with the distinct “S” Black Shark logo. I’m hoping to see some kind of cooling system implemented here since both Huawei and Razer made sure a decent cooling solution was included to keep the temps down when in full gaming mode.
Will the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 be a hit? We can only wait. But knowing Xiaomi, I’m pretty sure this phone will be aggressively priced. It should undercut both Huawei and Razer’s offerings by a huge margin. Gamers looking for a capable device for running the latest triple-A titles should keep an eye on this one.
