Mi Mix 3: The Beast of Xiaomi Arrives with 10 GB of RAM and Four Cameras
The Chinese company opts for the 'Oppo formula' to hide the camera in a drop-down mechanism to gain even more screen space. It occupies 93.4% of the screen-to-body ratio.
With the exception of Note 9, which opted for a premature presentation at the beginning of August, September and October are being weeks of first swords in the guild of ‘smartphones’. The reason is apparent: to have the commercial machinery suitably lubricated for the Christmas campaign.
Today is the day for Xiaomi, which has launched Mi Mix 3. It is the best mobile in the catalog of the Chinese manufacturer and Shenzen signature has not wanted to miss the opportunity to make a demonstration of strength.
The Mi MIX series was born as a kind of spin-off of the Mi, Xiaomi’s flagships, more focused on aesthetics and design. Mi Mix 3 will arrive with 10GB of RAM, four cameras. It will also be ready for 5G commercial networks, with a version that will arrive next year.
But that’s not all. The Mi Mix series, for which the brand has traditionally collaborated with the French designer Phillipe Starck, was the one that made frames-free displays fashionable.

Stretch the screen further
The Mi Mix 2 (and the 2S) chose to take the front camera to one of the corners. Now Mi Mix 3 is delivered to the ‘Oppo formula’. As we saw in the Find X, they have arranged the multimedia section in a mechanism that can slide and that hides the front cameras. This allows it to now reach 93.4% of the screen-to-body ratio.
It is a mobile that really stretches the concept of ‘all screen’ even more. It has a panel of 6.39 inches. It is Full HD+, so the resolution is 2340 by 1080 pixels. The maximum brightness it can reach is 600 nits, which seems more than enough to work indoors and outdoors.
The design in general lines is very similar to the previous generation. The fingerprint reader is located at the back, and the camera has the same vertical orientation. The only thing that changes significantly is the inclusion of a button dedicated to its virtual assistant, currently available only in Chinese.
The hidden camera
The photographic section seems that it will not go unnoticed in this Mix 3 of Xiaomi. Not only for hiding behind the sliding mechanism, but for its benefits. As a great endorsement, they have presented the DxOMark score (the reference index), which has given them an average of 103 points, after achieving 108 in their photo-taking tests and 98 in the video. A higher score, for example, to Huawei’s P20 Pro, one of the best cameras of the year.
The main camera arrives equipped with two sensors. The main one is 12 MP, with an aperture f/1.8 and pixels of 1.4 microns. The secondary has 12 MP with f/2.4 aperture and 1.0-micron pixels. On the front, we see another double camera with a sensor of 24 megapixels and f/1.8 as well as a 2 MP that will help to capture the depth for the portrait effect in the selfies.
Power as a flagship
Although it had been rumored that it could be the first mobile in the market to assemble the new generation of Snapdragon by Qualcomm, it will use the Snapdragon 845, a chip that has proved reliable throughout the year and that improved energy efficiency compared to its predecessors.
But what comes to suppose a jump, at least on paper, is the release of a version with 10 GB of RAM, in addition to an 8 GB.
The internal storage will be either 64GB, 256 or even 512. In addition, the Mi Mix 3 is placed at the height of the Note 9 with a battery of 4,000 mAh, compatible with wireless charging and fast charging.
