Fenêtre back display
This is probably the first smarpthone on the market with an additional display located at the back of the phone. It’s called “Fenêtre”, which means “Window” in French (not particularly creative, if you ask me). It has a size of 1.9 inches, can display in 240 x 536 px and as a AMOLED screen is very readable, with a contrast of 10 000 : 1. Like the the one on the front, it is protected by a scratch-resistant 2.5D glass.
So what can it be used for? It has quite many applications, including productivity, taking photos, visual tuning and more. Wondered how to take the perfect picture with a back camera? Now you can. It will allow you to get the perfect selfie with a back camera because you can preview it on Fenêtre screen. Its also useful feature for people using their phone as a training tool, because the back screen can display the number of steps, calories burned, distance and other functions supported by sports trackers at a glance. It can be also configured to display various types of notifications: incoming calls, text messages or calendar alerts. Finally, users can also freely customize the screen saver by choosing from a variety of attractive themes. The back screen proves to be very cool and actually handy feature that will make a big impression. MEIZU Pro 7 is definitely not your typical boring old-school smartphone!
Display and cameras
The Super AMOLED front touchscreen has excellent display parameters and is a real visual feast for people who’ll use it to watch videos at a UHD resolution of 2K (panoramic 1920 x 1080 px to be exact) and with maximum brightness of 350 cd/m². At a 5.2 inch size, it is slightly smaller than the more popular 5.5 inch screens, but it has narrow side frames and looks really slick and elegant.
The rear camera has a wonderful dual 12.0MP + 12.0MP lens, which allows you to take pictures with a hardware SLR effect, i.e. blurring the second plan. The phone software has up to 75 scenes, that is presets, that make it easier to take photos with a bokeh effect. Because the additional second lens is monochromatic, the camera produces very good black and white photos. All in all, a very good camera for artsy inclined photographers!
The front camera has only single lens, but it takes pictures at even higher resolution of 16MP. Its special four-in-one algorithm automatically adjusts sharpness, color saturation and gamma correction for lighting, making it easy to capture great images even in low light, without need to use flash, which always distorts colors.
High performance is guaranteed here by the combination of the Helio P25 processor that ensures proper balance between speed and power consumption and by 4 GB RAM made in fast LPDDR 4X technology.
In addition, MEIZU Pro 7 is provided with its own user interface, called Flyme 6. In practice, this is a modified Android 7.0 Nougat, equipped with the same functionalities that you’ll find in a normal smartphone, including the ability to install Google Play applications. The manufacturer claims that it speeds up the booting up and operation of many apps, making the hardware more efficiently use resources and it also supports back display. In fact, MEIZU Pro 7 works very smoothly whatever multitask you’ll throw at this phone and you won’t experience slow-running website browser or freezing software.
Appearance and other features
You can pick from black, gold and red, and the housing is made from brushed metal – a sign of first-rate craftsmanship. Sadly the 3,000 mAh battery isn’t among the most powerful, though we can say that it’s currently on par with industry standards, allowing one to two days of operation on a single charge, depending on how intense you use it. Quality audio is guaranteed by a decent loudspeaker and a professional CS 43130 sound chip. It provides dynamic audio experience without distortion, sounding pure and pleasing to the ear.
Online connectivity is provided by a Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and Glonass navigation, and dual-channel WiFi 2.4 / 5 GHz. The latter particularly should grab your attention, because its reliability is supported by the ELNA wireless signal amplifier, which improves reception capabilities wherever the broadband connection is weak.
MEIZU Pro 7 is a really innovative phone. Its great hardware, high performance, excellent cameras can challenge even flagships, and if you consider addition of revolutionary back touchscreen, you will get really good equipment worth its price. The fenêtre display is very handy and provides completely new experience. It is worth noting that Meizu also offers a bigger variant of this phone calle MEIZU Pro 7 Plus, which has a larger screen, a bit faster processor and 6 GB RAM.
